The idea behind the wine and cannabis tour is to show people the agricultural similarities between the wine-making process and the outdoor cannabis process. With it being so new, there’s so much buzz behind it. Instead of competing with cannabis, being a part of these tours will tap into a whole new demographic that they might not have gotten before.

A lot of people involved in the cannabis industry are really passionate about it. Guests love meeting people — the winemaker, the farmer, the cheesemaker. They love that passion we have.

There’s nothing in state law or memorandums between the federal, state and county governments that explicitly prohibits any type of crop or agricultural commodity from being listed in the annual crop report, including cannabis. If cannabis was listed as an agricultural crop, agricultural values would skyrocket by the billions. The bill empowers counties to report on legal cannabis production and is another step forward in legitimizing cannabis. 

Still, one innovative and legal solution remains for those wineries who want to tap into the new cannabis tourism market; the wine and weed tour. With the passage of recreational cannabis laws, wine and weed tours are popping up all over the place, and they are one easy and low-risk way for wineries to benefit from the green rush.

[Of the wine and cannabis industry] There’s plenty of demand for both, and I think bringing them together probably makes it a more appealing place overall. Does the brewery get mad because a distillery moves in across the way, or do people come to visit both the distillery and the brewery because they’re close together?
